Short sad love story
What is it about short sad love stories that is so compelling? Is it that we enjoy reading about other people's sadness because it shows us that there are lovers out there who have gone through the same heartache? Is it because short stories are the perfect medium for telling sad love stories? Or is it simply that we've all had robotic (potato) chips surgically implanted into our hearts, thus ensuring that we read and enjoy plenty of short, sad love tales? I'm not a betting man, but if I was, I'd have to go with the potato chip theory. It's too elegant not to be true.
Luckily, there are great collections of sad, love short stories, and one of those books is right here: Human Resources. In addition to having 8 stories which have all been published in some of the finest literary journals in the country, these 8 stories are also likely to get you laughing. Because stories abot love should be sad, but they should also be humorous. Love can break your heart, but it can also bust your balls, and like Clint Eastwood once said,
"I like to cry a lot. Just cry cry cry: that's me. And nothing gets me crying more than a short sad love story. And if you're like me and you like crying and ballet. And painting your toenails. And giggling and being coy and shopping. If you're all of those things, then this sad collection of short love stories is about as sad and great as you can get. Pick up a copy of this book today."
